ABSTRACT
Cloud computing is offering utility oriented IT services to users worldwide. It enables hosting of applications from consumer, scientific and business domains. However data center hosting cloud computing applications expend immense amounts of energy, thereby contributing to high operational expenses and carbon footprints to the environment. With energy shortages and global climate change leading our concerns these days, the power consumption of data centers has become a key issue. By using CloudSim as cloud simulator, we make the simulation between existing scheduling algorithm which are Round Robin (RR), Shortest Job First (SJF) and SJF with fairness priority to compare with default CloudSim scheduling algorithm, which is First Come First Serve (FCFS). The parameter to be compare is execution time and execution cost which equal resource utilization in real world of cloud computing. At the end of this project, we can analyze which scheduling algorithm is the best to achieve optimal resource utilization.
PROJECT BACKGROUND
This thesis consist of a method which will improve the overall cloudlet allocation based on CPU utilization. It is being compared with the existing cloudlet scheduling algorithm used by the CloudSim. CloudSim is the simulation tool which is used in the overall implementation Cloudlet scheduling algorithm. The simulation results indicate that proposed algorithm is showing significant improvement as compared to First Come First Serve (FCFS), Round Robin (RR), Shortest Job First (SJF) and SJF with fairness priority algorithm. Surely, the algorithm can bring significant benefits to both resource providers and consumers.

- Data centre hosting cloud application consume huge amount of electrical energy and high operational cost and carbon footprints.
- Traditional scheduling attempt to minimize processing time but not the energetic cost.

To study the scheduling algorithm using CloudSim simulator.
To test the scheduling algorithm using CloudSim simulator in achieving optimal resource utilization in cloud data centre.
To analyse the existing scheduling algorithm in CloudSim with other scheduling algorithm that optimize CPU utilization and resource.
